Challenge

Project objectives:

  • Create heavy vehicle usage classifications
  • Predict the risk of a breakdown depending on usage classification
  • Perform preventive maintenance before a breakdown occurs
  • Limit the contagion effect

The project

Robust regressions and Bayesian inferences were used to develop algorithms to calculate the likelihood of a failure.

Results

A set of vehicle usage classifications was developed and the solution successfully generated breakdown predictions.

The models can also be used in decision-assistance scenarios like comparing fleet purchase vs. lease business models.
